lezloworks creative loop
I arrange strands of creative thoughts into shapes, symbols and colours, here using natural forms.
Many of these new images play with recurrent themes and memories from childhood; shifting kaleidoscopes, after images of the sun through blankets, tracing outlines with fingers, inky Rorschach prints, the forms in clouds, shifting shapes in anaglypta wallpaper when half awake… but the geometry, wisdom and timelessness of Nature is the main feature.
Freshly expressed onto sustainable archival hemp and bamboo papers, these images are available as prints, framed or unframed, in various sizes. Please use the contact page for info.
murmurs
These images have evolved from observational drawings and my tendency to represent through visual metaphor. The manipulation of materials creates an association with other subjects. In this case, pencil shavings have been arranged and processed through the disciplined approach of still life photography, to capture the dynamics of movement and form in murmurations.
They are constructed in a backlit studio set, using layers of glass and graphite, and with stencils made from studying the shapes and flight paths of birds. Digital printing on to heavyweight matte bamboo paper also gives the images a non-standard photographic look. They are the result of much experimentation with form and scale; repeated themes in my work.
The murmuration triptych forms part of a new developing portfolio of photographic and mixed media work which is investigating the idea of ‘interior landscapes’. They are studio made imaginings of forms and spaces in nature.
